Valerie & Rileyβs Downtown Memphis Wedding
Thereβs something special about getting married in the heart of downtown Memphis. The energy of the city, the historic streets, the architecture, and all of those little Memphis details create a backdrop that feels completely different from a traditional wedding venue. For Valerie and Riley, their wedding day brought all of that character together for a celebration that felt romantic, personal, and unmistakably Memphis.
Their day began at the hotel, where the excitement slowly started to build as everyone got ready. The morning was filled with those little in-between moments that are easy to overlook but often become some of the most meaningful photographsβfinishing touches, getting dressed, spending time with the people closest to them, and the anticipation of knowing that the day they had been waiting for was finally here.
Once everyone was ready, it was time to head downtown.
A Portrait Session Through Downtown Memphis
One of my favorite parts of Valerie and Rileyβs wedding day was that we took the majority of their portraits out on Main Street in downtown Memphis.
Instead of keeping their portraits confined to the venue, we took advantage of everything the city had to offer. Main Street gave us an incredible mix of historic architecture, sidewalks, storefronts, urban textures, and that unmistakable downtown Memphis atmosphere.
Walking through the city also gave Valerie and Riley a chance to slow down for a few minutes and simply be together before the rest of the wedding day unfolded.
There is something about photographing a couple in the middle of a city that makes the images feel alive. Cars passing by, people walking the sidewalks, buildings surrounding them, and the natural movement of downtown all become part of the story. Valerie and Riley's portraits feel like more than beautiful wedding photographsβthey feel like photographs of the two of them in their city, on their day, beginning this next chapter together.
